The Information Commission Bangladesh (ICB) yesterday warned a revenue officer of Savar Customs, Excise and Vat DB Circle for making false statement during its hearing and the assistant director of De-partment of Environment for providing partial information to an information seeker.
Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) Dr Abdul Malek, Information Commissioner Shahidul Alam Jhinuk and Information Commissioner Masuda Bhatti issued the order as per Right to Information Act after holding hearing on the matters, said a press release.
Revenue officer of Savar at the hearing had said that he could not provide the information because of his senior officials order. But the ICB later learned his claim was totally false.
On the other hand, the ICB learned that the Assistant Director of the Department of Environment inten-tionally provided partial information on the pretext of section seven of the Right to Information Act, 2009.
They were cautioned and the higher authorities were directed to take appropriate action against the reve-nue officer.
Yesterday, two complaints were heard and disposed of accordingly.
