Staff Reporter:
Miscreants set a bus on fire at Shanir Akhra in the capital on Monday evening, during the 48-hour coun-trywide blockade program enforced by BNP and like-minded opposition parties.
The miscreants intercepted the bus of Moumita Paribahan near Chowrasta Bridge and set it on fire at 6:16 pm, station officer of the Fire Service and Civil Defence’s media cell said.
On information, two firefighting units from Postogola Fire Station rushed to the spot and are trying to put the fire under control.
The ongoing blockade, which will end at 6 am on Tuesday, has been marked by widespread incidents of violence including torching and vandalizing vehicles.
After giving a pause for a day on Tuesday, the BNP and like-minded parties will again enforce a 48-hour countrywide road-rail-waterway blockade beginning from Wednesday to mount pressure on the Awami League government to quit power and hold the next election under a non-partisan administration.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the program at a virtual press brief-ing on Monday afternoon.
