PM to open 24 dev projects in Khulna today

Khulna: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will address a public rally along with inaugurating and laying foundation stones of 29 development projects in Khulna city today.
She will open 24 development projects and lay foundation stones of five other projects at a rally at Khulna Circuit House ground where she previously addressed a rally five years back on March 3, 2018.
Of the projects, the Education Engineering Department (EED) has implemented 11 projects while eight projects were implemented by Department of Public Works and five by Local Government Engineering Department, West Forest Division of the Sundarbans and Department of Agricultural Extension, addi-tional deputy commissioner (ADC) Pulak Kumar Mondal said.
Foundation stones of five projects including two of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) will also be laid.
Talking to , Educationist Prof Anwarul Kadir said over the previous decades, the south-western part’s remained underprivileged but Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina has brought a remarkable change by establishing and renovating educational institutions in the district.
The 1971: Genocide-Torture Archive and Museum has been built in Khulna to let the new generation know the true history of the Liberation War, he said, terming the initiative as a time-befitting one.
About the prospect of tourism, Sheikh Ashrafuzzaman, President of Khulna Unnayan Sangram Samonnya Committee, said the Shekhertek eco-tourism center under the Sundarbans Ecotourism Facility Expansion and Development Project of Sundarbans West Forest Division will contribute to the economy of Bangladesh and the government will earn a handsome amount of revenue from foreign tourists.
Establishing Khulna regional office of Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) was a crying need for the companies and business owners and at the same time people of this region will get original consumer products specially food items.
The local businessmen, owners of factories will be able to get the BSTI approval from Khulna, said Kazi Aminul Haque, president of Khulna Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The two bridges over Bhadra and Kurulia of Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) will minimize the transportation cost, he said, adding that it will contribute much to agriculture and farmers will get more profit due to less transportation cost.
The sanitary landfill of KCC is an important project to keep the environment clean and public health safe, he added.
