Islami Andolon to bring out protest rally

Staff Reporter:

Islami Andolan Bangladesh (IAB) has announced to bring out a mass protest procession towards the Election Commission (EC) building on the day of the announcement of the election schedule.
The party also announced protest rallies in districts and metropolitan cities the next day across the coun-try.
Amir of Islami Andolan Bangladesh (IAB) Mufti Syed Mohammad Rezaul Karim, Pir Saheb of Char-monai, announced the new set of programs at a press conference on Sunday.
“If the commission announces a one-sided schedule, we will bring out a protest march toward the Elec-tion Commission building that day. We will organise protest marches across the country the next day,” he said.
He demanded the restoration of the caretaker government system, as well as the release of opposition party leaders and activists, and said, “Our statement is clear… The schedule cannot be announced until a level playing field is ensured.”
He said that his party would support all of the other opposition parties’ programs calling for an election under a neutral government.
He further said that on November 20, they will hold a dialogue with representatives of political parties, academics, journalists, civil society, and various organisations regarding the ongoing political situation.
