I made a pledge and fulfilled it: PM Hasina

Staff Reporter:

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday said that she made a pledge to extend the rail line from Chattogram to Cox’s Bazar and that has been fulfilled through the inauguration of the rail service.

The prime minister said this while addressing an inaugural event of the much-awaited Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar dual-gauge single railway line at the Cox’s Bazar railway station.

“The railway link to the world’s longest sea beach in Cox’s Bazar has marked the beginning of a new era. The prolonged anticipation of the people of Cox’s Bazar has come to an end with the inauguration of the rail line. Earlier, I made a commitment in this regard and I fulfilled it,” he stated.

The newly constructed railway line will be connected with the Asian Railway line, said the prime minister, calling upon the people to use the railway line properly.

“It should be used as personal resources. It is the responsibility of everyone to maintain its cleanliness,” said the prime minister.

Highlighting the numerous potentials of railway communications, the prime minister expressed that her government is committed to taking further initiatives, enabling people to travel to Cox’s Bazar by train from various parts of the country.

The government is enhancing railway communications nationwide to bolster the country’s tourism sector, she added.
