2 children drown in Faridpur pond

Faridpur: Two minor cousins drowned in a pond while playing at Algadiya village in Nagarkanda upazila of Faridpur on Wednesday.
The deceased were Abu Bakkar, 5, son of Md Jafar Sheikh and Nahida Akter, 4, daughter of Shahfiqul Islam, of Algadiya village under Charjoshordi union of the upazila.
Locals said the two children might have drowned while playing near a pond at noon.
At one stage of search, the children were found floating in the pond and rushed to Upazila Health Com-plex where physicians declared them dead.
Kamruzzama Saheb Fakir, chairman of the union parishad, confirmed the death of the children.
