Rizvi calls party leaders to remain alert

Staff Reporter:

BNP on Tuesday alleged that the members of law enforcement agencies have started again making the opposition leaders and workers disappear to suppress the ongoing one-point movement.
Speaking at a virtual press briefing, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi called the party leaders and workers to remain alert as the government is planning to put the blame on them by carrying out various subversive activities during the blockade program.
“Titumir College unit Chhatra Dal’s joint general secretaries Mahmudul Hasan Rafiq and Saiful Islam remain traceless since they have been picked up by the Detective Branch of Police. Making our leaders and activists disappear begins anew,” he said.
The BNP leader said the government has got desperate to hold another lopsided election without the par-ticipation of voters. “So, they (govt) have initiated a new program of enforced disappearance to scare people.”
He said the law enforcers are targeting the young people this time to make them disappear since the youth are waging the street movement as vanguard.
Rizvi demanded the government to immediately ensure the safe return of Mahmudul and Saiful Islam to their families.
He said the opposition parties, including the BNP, will enforce another round of 48-hour nationwide blockade program from 6am on Wednesday to realize their one-point demand.
