Govt on tough stance to curb juvenile gangs

Staff Reporter:

The government is stepping up efforts to curb juvenile gang activities across the country, with the Home Ministry deciding to form anti-juvenile gang committees in all upazilas.
Under the decision, Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) will serve as presidents of the committees, while officers-in-charge (OCs) of the respective police stations will act as member-secretaries.
The move signals a stronger administrative and law enforcement approach to tackling juvenile gang-related activities, raising hopes for more coordinated action at the grassroots level.
With local administration and police brought under a unified framework, the initiative is expected to strengthen monitoring, improve coordination and support preventive measures against juvenile gang in-volvement.
