Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon yesterday said the government has planned to provide Tk 1 lakh each to 100 selected teachers as award on the occasion of World Teachers’ Day to honor the teachers.
He disclosed the plan to journalists before the start of the first meeting of the national steering committee formed to organize World Teachers’ Day celebrations at his ministry at the secretariat yesterday.
“Our teachers’ community is the main driving force behind changes and progress in the education system. Our primary objective is to properly recognize, reward and encourage those who are doing outstanding work at the grassroots level. On World Teachers’ Day, October 5, we want to remember and honor the contributions of teachers across the country,” he said.
He said work is underway to finalize a policy for selecting the best teachers as previously only 12 teachers were given Tk 2 lakh each totaling Taka 24 lakh.
Jatiya Sangsad Whip Rakibul Islam, senior officials of the ministry and members of the national steering committee were present at the meeting.
