Lured with chocolate, Tk10, six-year-old allegedly raped in N’ganj

Staff Reporter:

A 40-year-old man allegedly lured a six-year-old girl to his room with the promise of chocolate and Tk10 before sexually assaulting her in Siddhirganj of Narayanganj.

The accused, identified as Aminul Islam, a neighbour of the child, has been absconding since the incident, police said.

Officer-in-Charge of Siddhirganj Police Station, Mohammad Emdadul Haque, confirmed the matter on Friday.

According to the case statement, the incident allegedly took place on Tuesday afternoon when Aminul offered the child chocolate and Tk10 and took her to his room.

The case statement alleges that he sexually assaulted the child there. The child later fell ill. When her family members asked her about the cause of her illness that night, she reportedly told them about the assault.

As her condition worsened the following day, her family took her to Narayanganj 300-bed Hospital. She was later referred to Narayanganj General Hospital for further treatment.

“Police were informed after the family learned about the alleged incident. Officers subsequently spoke to the victim’s family and recorded details of the allegation,” the OC said.

A case was filed against Aminul under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act with Siddhirganj Police Station on Thursday night.

OC Emdadul Haque said police were taking necessary legal steps in connection with the case and continuing efforts to locate and arrest the accused.
