Jhenaidah: A suspected cattle lifter was killed in a reported lynch-mob attack in Badurgachha vil-lage in Kaliganj upazila of Jhenaidah district early Saturday.
The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Kabir Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Kaliganj Police Station, said two people entered the house of one Nilufa Begum around 3am in an attempt to steal cattle.
Sensing the presence of the cattle lifters, the woman raised an alarm for help.
At one stage, local people chased them and caught them.
Later, local people beat them up mercilessly, leaving one dead on the spot and another injured.
The injured was taken to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital.
