State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam said on Friday that the government is working to create an environment that encourages Bangladeshi students to return home after completing their higher education abroad.
She made the remarks while inaugurating the 14th International Education Expo 2026, organised by the Foreign Education Consultants Association of Bangladesh, at Hotel Sonargaon in Dhaka.
Addressing the event as the chief guest, the state minister said the government has allocated the largest share of the national budget to the education sector. She added that efforts are underway to create new employment opportunities for young people both at home and overseas.
Shama also said the government is placing special emphasis on enhancing the skills of both migrant and domestic workers to improve their competitiveness in the job market.
Highlighting concerns over fraud in overseas education services, she warned that some dishonest groups have been deceiving students under the guise of education consultancy.
The government is taking strict measures to curb such fraudulent activities, she said, urging the public to assist authorities by providing accurate information to help identify offenders and prevent irregularities in the sector.
