The government has sent 17 senior officers of the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) police cadre into retirement under Section 45 of the Government Service Act, 2018.
The Ministry of Home Affairs issued a gazette notification in this regard on Wednesday. Senior Secretary Manjur Morshed Chowdhury signed the notification by order of the President.
According to the notification, the officers will receive all retirement benefits as per the rules. The order will take immediate effect in the public interest.
Those sent into retirement include Highway Police DIG Abdullahil Baki, CID Additional DIG Mohammad Sarwar Hossain, Tourist Police Additional DIG Bidhan Tripura, Police Telecom Additional DIG Dr AKM Iqbal Hossain, Bangladesh Police Academy DIG Md Walid Hossain, APBn Additional DIG Shaheli Ferdous, CID Additional DIG Rebeka Sultana, Bangladesh Police Academy Additional DIG Mohammad Tabarak Uddin, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Habibur Rahman, Police Telecom Additional DIG Hasina Rahman, Police Headquarters Additional DIGs Faisal Mahmud and Kaniz Fatema, Tourist Police Additional DIG Sultana Nazma Hossain, River Police Additional DIG Jesmin Begum, TDS Police Superintendent Abdur Rahim Shah Chowdhury, CID DIG Sana Shaminur Rahman, and DMP Joint Commissioner Farida Yasmin.
Earlier, on 5 July, the government sent 33 senior police officials, including 14 deputy inspector generals (DIGs), into forced retirement, citing the public interest.
