Security tightened at Secretariat over HSC students’ protest

Staff Reporter:

Security has been tightened at the Secretariat on Wednesday over a long march by Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinees demanding the resignation of Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon and pressing a three-point demand.

Additional police personnel were deployed at every entrance, while identity checks and searches of those entering the premises were intensified. Members of law enforcement agencies were seen on alert.

Earlier in the day, protesting HSC examinees blocked roads at Uttara, Science Lab, Mirpur-10, and ECB Chattar in the capital.

The students later began their long march toward the Secretariat from Uttara and Science Lab. Security measures around the Secretariat were further reinforced after news of the program spread.
