Raju Mia, father of five-year-old Nisa Moni who was raped and murdered in Dhobaura upazila of Mymensingh, has thanked Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and expressed satisfaction over the court’s exemplary verdict in the case.
He met BNP Joint Secretary General and Mymensingh District Council Administrator Syed Emran Saleh Prince on Saturday afternoon and thanked the prime minister for ensuring a swift trial process.
Raju Mia said authorities submitted the charge sheet within nine days of the incident and completed the trial within a short period, proving that the government has taken a firm stance against heinous crimes such as violence against women and children.
He also thanked the court, police administration and Syed Emran Saleh Prince for their support.
During the meeting, Syed Emran Saleh Prince reaffirmed his commitment to standing beside Nisa Moni’s grieving family. He said he and Dhobaura BNP would continue their efforts against rape, drugs, gambling and all forms of social crimes in the area.
“There will be no leniency for criminals. Everyone must work together to establish the rule of law and ensure social security,” he said.
A Mymensingh court on 8 July sentenced three adult accused to death and handed a 10-year imprisonment term to a juvenile accused in the sensational gang rape and murder case of five-year-old Nisa Moni in Dhobaura.
The Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal and the Children’s Violence Prevention Tribunal delivered the verdict after completing the trial within 10 working days of receiving the charge sheet and 25 days after the incident.
Nisa Moni’s father filed the case with Dhobaura Police Station on 15 June, a day after the tragic incident on 14 June.
