Aninda Islam Amit, state minister for energy and mineral resources, has been tasked with coordinating rescue, rehabilitation and relief distribution efforts between different government agencies for the flood-hit Chattogram division.
The Cabinet Division issued a notification in this regard on Friday.
As per the notification, Aninda Islam Amit would ensure coordination and monitoring of all the activities of the concerned government agencies rescue, rehabilitation and relief distribution efforts in the Chattogram and hill tract areas.
The state minister would also assess losses from the recent floods, landslides and persistent rainfall, the stock of relief items at local bodies, and rescue efforts.
At the same time, he would provide the necessary guidance to all relevant ministries, divisions, directorates, agencies, district and local administrations, and the forces in carrying out these activities, the notification added.
The state minister will take prompt action and oversee efforts to ensure the adequate supply of relief materials in the affected areas. He will also keep the government informed from time to time about the flood situation and the measures taken, as per the notification.
