The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) yesterday forecast light to moderate rain or thunder-showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind and lightning flashes across most parts of the country, with moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall likely at places in six divisions today.
The highest temperature on Sunday was recorded at 36.5 degrees Celsius in Sylhet under Sylhet division, while the lowest temperature yesterday was 24.0 degrees Celsius in Narayanganj under Dhaka Division.
The sun will set at 6:50pm yesterday and rise at 5:17am today in Dhaka, the bulletin added.
The Met Office said the monsoon depression over Odisha and adjoining south Jharkhand has moved northwestwards and now lies over southwest Jharkhand and adjoining Odisha as a Monsoon Land De-pression. The monsoon remains active over Bangladesh and strong over the North Bay.
For the second day (July 07), the BMD forecast rain or thundershowers at most places across all eight divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall at places nationwide. Day temperature may fall slightly, while night temperature is expected to remain nearly unchanged.
A similar weather pattern is likely on the third day on July 08, with widespread rainfall and the possibil-ity of moderately heavy to very heavy downpours in different parts of the country. Day temperature may decline slightly.
The fourth day’s (July 09) forecast also indicates rain or thundershowers in most areas of all divisions with heavy to very heavy rainfall at places, while day temperature may fall slightly and night tempera-ture is expected to remain almost unchanged.
On the fifth day (July 10), widespread rainfall is expected to continue with chances of moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places across the country. Both day and night temperatures may decrease slightly.
The BMD said rainfall activity is likely to continue over the next five days.
