Faridpur: A motorcyclist and his pillion rider were killed after their motorcycle collided with a passen-ger bus on the Faridpur-Barishal Highway in Faridpur’s Nagarkanda upazila on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Fahim Matubbor, 23, son of Zahid Matubbor, and Rafiqul Matubbor, son of Kawsar Matubbor. Both were residents of Chak Naudubi village under Fulsuti union in the upazila.
The accident occurred around 5:30pm in the Masha Ujan area when a Sakura Paribahan bus travelling from Barishal to Faridpur collided head-on with the motorcycle, which was heading towards Nagarkan-da.
Fahim, who was riding the motorcycle, died on the spot, Rosul Samdani Azad, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nagarkanda Police Station said.
Rafiqul, the pillion rider, was rescued in critical condition and taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospi-tal, where doctors declared him dead.
The accident disrupted traffic on the highway for about 30 minutes, causing long tailbacks on both sides of the road.
