Two schoolboys drowned while swimming in Turag

A Correspondent:

Gazipur: Two schoolboys drowned while swimming in the Turag River in Tongi of Gazipur district on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Shamim, 11, a class VI student and son of Anisur Rahman, and Afnan, 13, a class VII student of Siraj Uddin Sarker Bidyaniketan & College and son of Saiful Islam of the Purba Arichpur Bou Bazar area.
The incident took place in the Mirash Para area of the Turag River.
Md Shaheen Alam, station officer of Tongi Fire Service, said the two boys along with their friend Shipon had gone to the river in Mirash Para area to swim.
At one stage, Shamim and Afnan drowned, while Shipon managed to swim ashore.
On information, divers from the local Fire Service rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies from the river.
