The Centre for Zakat Management (CZM) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Albukhary International University (AIU) of Malaysia to provide annual scholarships for deserving graduates of CZM-run schools and colleges to pursue higher education in Malaysia.
Under the agreement, selected students will receive a full tuition fee waiver, free accommodation and a monthly stipend while studying at AIU, according to a press release.
The MoU also aims to strengthen broader academic collaboration between the two institutions.
The signing ceremony was attended by CZM Chairman Niaz Rahim, who is also managing director of Rahimafrooz Bangladesh Ltd; CZM Chief Executive Officer Dr Mohammad Ayub Miah; Head of Corporate Affairs Col (retd) Zakaria Hossain; Assistant General Managers Monir Ibn Hafiz Bhuiyan and Anowar Hosen; and Rahimafrooz Bangladesh Ltd Compliance Manager Misbahur Rahman Asim.
Representing Albukhary International University were Vice Chancellor and President Professor Dato’ Ir. Dr Mohd Saleh Bin Jaafar and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) Professor Dr Hj. Mohamad Abdullah Bin Hemdi.
CZM said the partnership is expected to create new opportunities for deserving Bangladeshi students to access quality international higher education while strengthening educational cooperation between Bangladesh and Malaysia.
