Five children die from measles symptoms within 24 hours

Staff Reporter:

Five children died from measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours till 8am on Thursday morning.

No death from measles was reported over the same period, according to an update released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

As many as 1,119 people were infected in the current outbreak: 154 with measles and 965 others with related symptoms. Among these patients, 902 were hospitalised.

Since 15 March, 724 children have died from confirmed measles infection and related symptoms.

Since 15 March, 1,02,993 people have been diagnosed with measles-like symptoms, and 12,286 others with confirmed measles.
