Organized under the initiative of DSCC, the meeting was held at Nagar Bhaban Auditorium with DSCC Chief Health Officer Dr. Jahane Ferdous Binte Rahman in the chair.

The meeting has set a target to administer Vitamin A capsules to a total of 590,538 children in the DSCC area.

Of them, 135,606 children aged between 6 and 11 months will receive one blue Vitamin A capsule while 454,932 children aged between 12 and 59 months will receive one red Vitamin A capsule.

The campaign will be conducted simultaneously at 1,760 centres across the DSCC area from 8 am to 4 pm on Sunday.

To ensure the successful implementation of the programme, around 3,654 volunteers and 150 supervisors will be deployed at the field level.

Urging all for successful implementation of the Vitamin A capsule campaign Dr. Jahane Ferdous said, the capsule plays vital role in strengthening children’s immunity, preventing blindness and reducing the risk of child mortality.

The meeting was assured that the Vitamin A capsules supplied by the government have been tested in laboratories approved by the World Health Organization and are completely safe for children.

Guardians were urged not to pay heed to any rumors or misleading information and bring their children to the nearest centres within the stipulated time to receive the capsules.
