China is ready to prepare comprehensive and actionable plans for enhancing cooperation in key areas with Bangladesh, said President Xi Jinping during a meeting with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman in Beijing on Friday.
To this end, China looks forward to collaborating on advanced and climate change-related technologies like artificial intelligence, green transformation, low-carbon development, digital economy, and information technology, among others, Xi added, according to Chinese state news agency Xinhua.
China also supports Bangladesh’s new government in its smooth administration and stands ready to carry out high-quality Belt and Road cooperation with Bangladesh, the Chinese president said.
During the meeting, Xi Jinping said China was willing to support Bangladesh advance the development of the China-Myanmar-Bangladesh Economic Corridor, and provide assistance in implementing the Teesta River project.
The two sides also discussed stepping up defence cooperation, Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, one of Rahman’s advisers, told Reuters, but “no specific agreement was signed.”
After the meeting with Xi, Tarique wrapped up his three-day bilateral tour of Beijing – his first visit to China since taking office in February.
