Children’s deaths from measles, symptoms nears 700 with 9 new fatalities

Nine more children died from measles and related symptoms in the 24 hours till 8am on Thursday, taking the total death toll near 700 in just about a hundred days.

During 8am Wednesday-8am Thursday, 945 children were infected with measles and measles-line symptoms, said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in an update.
Since 15 March, total 698 children have died in this year’s sudden outbreak: 93 children from confirmed measles cases, and 605 children from suspected measles infections.

Since 15 March, suspected measles cases stand at 96,653, and confirmed measles cases stand at 11,442. Total hospitalisations stand at 80,497 cases.
