BNP leader hacked in Mohammadpur

A group of miscreants hacked a BNP leader with sharp weapons near his house in the capital’s Mohammadpur area after the Friday prayers.

Noor Islam, senior joint secretary at BNP’s Ward 33 unit, was seriously injured in the attack that took place at Road No 4, Sat Masjid Housing area in Mohammadpur.

According to eyewitnesses, six miscreants on three motorbikes approached Noor Islam and hacked indiscriminately on his face, shoulders and arms, before fleeing the scene.

Noor Islam was rushed to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where treatment is continuing, said the hospital’s police outpost In-Charge Md Faruk.

Police said they are trying to identify the attackers and will pursue legal measures.
