Bangladesh, China stress boosting trade and investment ties

Bangladesh and China emphasised boosting bilateral trade and business activities during a courtesy meeting between Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen on Thursday.

The two sides also prioritised increasing investment, technical education exchanges and people-to-people engagements, said a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office.

The meeting was held at the National Parliament Secretariat, the statement added.

At the beginning of the meeting, Yao Wen congratulated Bangladesh on Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman becoming the president of the UN General Assembly for 2026-27 session.

Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman and Prime Minister’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir were present at the meeting.
