The press conference will be held at 3:00pm at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital.

During the event, the Finance Minister will outline various aspects of the proposed budget, the government’s priorities, and its strategies for addressing economic challenges.

He is also expected to respond to questions and concerns raised by economists, stakeholders and the general public regarding the budget.

With a focus on easing inflationary pressures on citizens, creating employment through increased investment and business expansion, broadening the scope of social safety net programmes, and making the economy more productive and decentralised, the Finance Minister proposed a Tk 938,000 crore budget for the 2026–27 fiscal year. It is the largest budget in the country’s history.

Prepared under the theme, “Economic Democratisation and Decentralisation: Bangladesh on the Path to a Trillion-Dollar Economy,” the proposed budget amounts to 13.7 per cent of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

The Finance Minister stated that the government has undertaken coordinated initiatives across various sectors to make the economy more productive, employment-oriented and inclusive.

He also outlined a vision for a Bangladesh where entrepreneurship and innovation are encouraged, fair returns for hard work are ensured, and the benefits of economic progress reach people at every level of society.
