Staff Reporter:

The government has finalised a plan to plant one crore saplings through government primary schools students in their houses or surroundings under the “One Child, One Tree” programme.

A total of 25 crore trees will be planted across the country over the next five years, which is expected to create nearly 3.5 lakh green jobs both directly and indirectly, the proposed budget for FY2026-27 said.

However, a total of Tk100 crore has been proposed for the Bangladesh Climate Change Trust in the budget considering the severity and extent of climate change impacts.
