Two senior journalists, Shishir Barua and Probhat Barua, of Chattogram city passed away on Friday.
Of them, Shishir passed away at his residence at Patiya around 12:10am, while Probhat breathed his last at around 5:30am at a private clinic in the city.
Shishir began his journalism career in 1983 and worked with several newspapers including Naya Bangla, Daily Life, Commercial Times, Dainik Ishan and Dainik Ittefaq throughout his long professional life,
He also served as a part-time correspondent for Reuters and worked as a freelance photojournalist.
Probhat, meanwhile, had been involved in journalism since 1982. During his decades-long career, he worked for leading local dailies, including Dainik Azadi and Dainik Purbokone, among other publications.
Leaders of the Chattogram Press Club, Chattogram Metropolitan Union Of Journalists (CMUJ) and Chattogram Union of Journalists (CUJ) expressed deep shock at the deaths of the two veteran journalists and conveyed their condolences to the bereaved families.
