Less than 24 hours after a man and his son were killed in a road accident in Fatikchhari upazila, another man and his son lost their lives in a similar tragedy in Karnaphuli upazila of the district on Tuesday.
The victims were Durgapada Mallick, 70, a teacher at Daulatpur Bahumukhi High School in Karnaphuli, and his son Bidhan Mallick, 47.
They had been living in a rented house in the city’s Patharghata area.
Locals said the accident occurred around 8am when the duo’s motorcycle collided with a pickup van on the southern side of Shah Amanat Bridge, leaving Durgapada dead on the spot and Bidhan critically injured.
Bidhan was rushed to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH), where the on-duty physician declared him dead, said Sub-Inspector Alauddin Talukder of the CMCH police outpost.
On Monday morning, Mohammad Shahjahan and his teenage son Arif died after a BRTC bus hit their motorcycle in the Bibirhat area of Fatikchhari.
