Two people were killed and another was injured in a collision between a car and a battery-run autorickshaw on Itakhola-Monohardi Road in the Ashrafpur area of Shibpur upazila in the district around 11:30am on Saturday.
The deceased were Md Zunaid Sheikh, 13, son of Al Amin Sheikh of Satpara village in Shibpur, and Md Rubel Sheikh, 19, son of Khorshed Sheikh of Lakushi village in the same upazila.
Zunaid’s mother, Mahfuza, sustained serious injuries in the incident.
After the accident, locals rushed the victims to Shibpur Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared Zunaid dead.
Rubel was referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, but he died on the way to the hospital.
Shibpur Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Kohinur Mia said the bodies were handed over to the families after completion of legal formalities.
