Eid-ul-Azha: Main jamaat at 7:30am at National Eidgah

Staff Reporter:

The main Eid-ul-Azha jamaat in the capital will be held at 7:30am at the National Eidgah under the management of the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).

DSCC has already completed all necessary preparations for holding the main Eid congregation.

President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, along with cabinet members, judges, senior government officials, and foreign diplomats, are expected to join the main congregation.

Comprehensive arrangements have been made to ensure a safe, smooth and comfortable prayer environment with modern facilities and separate provisions for men and women worshippers.

The National Eidgah spans around 30,000 square metres, including a 25,400-square-metre main prayer pavilion. There will be a total of 121 rows, allowing around 35,000 worshippers to offer prayers at a time.

Of them, 250 VIP male and 80 VIP female worshippers will have designated arrangements. Separate facilities have also been made for around 31,000 male and 3,500 female worshippers.

There will be four entrances — one for VIPs, two for male worshippers, and one for women, while seven exit gates have been designated, including one for VIPs, five for men, and one for women.

A total of 121 rows have been allocated, including five VIP male rows, one VIP female row, 65 rows for men, and 50 rows for women.

Around 140 worshippers can perform ablution at a time, with separate facilities for men (113) and women (27).

Facilities at the venue include air conditioning, fans, lighting, safe drinking water, carpets, and prayer mats for VIP rows. Separate entry and prayer arrangements for women have also been ensured.

Fire Service and Civil Defence teams will be on standby with fire safety support, along with first aid services, mobile toilets, drainage systems, and rain protection measures.

Organisers said decorative gateways have been installed and all preparations are in place to ensure a secure, orderly, and dignified Eid congregation.
