Staff Reporter:
A massive fire ripped through the Kalshi slum in the capital’s Pallabi area on Monday evening.
Firefighters were alerted to the incident at 7:23, according to the Media Cell of the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD).
Ten firefighting units rushed to the spot, while five more were on their way, FSCD control room duty officer Rozina Akter told the Daily Sun.
The cause of the fire could not be known immediately.
Firefighters are facing a water shortage, which has made it difficult to contain the blaze, resulting in the rapid spread of fire through the slum, said Fire Service Media Cell official Anwarul Islam Dolon.
