PM asks police to safeguard national interest

Staff Reporter:

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman yesterday called upon members of the police force to work together to safeguard the country’s interests, rising above differences of opinion.
The Premier made the call at a meeting with senior police officers at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in the city’s Tejgaon area, PM’s Press Secretary AAM Saleh Shibly said yesterday.
“This country belongs to all of us. We must work together to protect it. We may not all share the same ideology, but when you work with the government, your personal ideological differences should not be reflected in your work,” he said.
Differences of opinion should only be expressed through the ballot box, Tarique Rahman said, adding, “Until then, we all must love this country and remain united in the interest of the country.”
Earlier in the morning, the Prime Minister addressed police officers at a program at the Shapla Hall of the PMO on the occasion of Police Week 2026, where he issued various directives regarding the mainte-nance of law and order across the country.
Later, he took part in a photo session with police officials in front of the Tiger Gate of the PMO.
