Advance ticket sales for long-distance bus services ahead of the upcoming Eid al-Adha have officially begun.
According to a prior announcement by the Bangladesh Bus-Truck Owners Association, bus operators started selling tickets both online and through ticket counters from Friday morning.
Sources concerned said advance tickets are being sold for journeys scheduled from May 21 until the Eid holidays, allowing passengers to secure seats on various routes across the country in advance.
Speaking about the ticket sales, Jibon Chakraborty, General Manager of Shyamoli NR Travels, said ticket sales began simultaneously at all counters and online platforms on Friday morning.
He said the highest demand is currently for tickets on the night of May 24, throughout May 25, and the morning of May 26, as the government holiday begins on May 25.
“Most advance tickets on several routes were sold out by 10am,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Bus-Truck Owners Association stated that no operator will be allowed to charge fares beyond the rates fixed by the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA).
The same approved fares will also apply to online ticket sales platforms.
The association further said fare charts approved by BRTA will be displayed at every ticket counter to help passengers easily verify official ticket prices.
