Govt warns against fake livestock import permit showing online

Staff Reporter:

The Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock yesterday has warned against a fake livestock import permit be-ing circulated online in the name of the Department of Livestock Services (DLS).
The Ministry issued the warning in a press release yesterday, saying a purported permit allowing cattle imports from India has recently spread across social media and other digital platforms.
Upon initial verification, the ministry found the document to be fabricated, misleading and deliberately designed to create confusion.
It said the document bears no resemblance to any official approval, record or procedure followed by the DLS, adding that the department has confirmed it did not issue such a permit.
The ministry also noted that the information, reference numbers and signatures used in the document could not be verified, and therefore it cannot be treated as a valid government authorization.
The ministry called on the public, business community and relevant stakeholders not to rely on or act upon such false information, and to avoid sharing unverified documents.
It warned that legal action may be taken against individuals involved in spreading fake information.
The ministry further advised all concerned to rely only on official DLS platforms and credible govern-ment sources for accurate information.
