Death toll from measles, symptoms hits 280

The combined death toll from measles and related symptoms has reached 280 in one-and-a-half months with four new deaths due to measles symptoms reported in the 24 hours till Friday morning.

No death from confirmed measles diagnosis was reported over the 24-hour period.

Since the outbreak officially started on 15 March, 231 people have died from measles-like symptoms and 39 others from confirmed measles case with the large majority of the victims being children.

During 8am Thursday-8am Friday, 115 people were diagnosed with measles, and 1,170 others with measles symptoms.
