Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) yesterday forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Rangpur, Sylhet, Mymensingh and Dhaka divisions today.
Meteorologist AKM Nazmul Hoque yesterday told that around 75 percent of areas in these four divisions may experience heavy to very heavy rainfall.
He said about 50 percent areas of Rajshahi and Chattogram divisions may receive rainfall in the next 48 hours while around 25 percent areas of Khulna and Barishal divisions are likely to see precipitation.
After the next 28 hours, the frequency of rainfall may decrease in Rangpur division, but intensity is ex-pected to increase in Sylhet and Dhaka divisions, he added.
Rainfall is expected to persist in Dhaka division for the next two to three days. Meanwhile, Nor’wester (Kal-Baishakhi) accompanied by lightning may occur in different parts of the country.
Day temperatures may fall slightly, while night temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged across the country.
The prevailing heatwave over Rangamati, Laxmipur and Bandarban districts may subside.
The highest temperature was recorded on Sunday was 37 degrees Celsius in Rangamati, while yesterday’s minimum temperature was 18.3 degrees Celsius in Mymensingh.
In Dhaka, the sun sets at 6:26 pm yesterday and will rise at 5:27 am today.
