The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has expelled local leader Akbar Ali following allegations that he vandalised Dawkandi Government University College in Durgapur, Rajshahi, and behaved indecently with a female teacher, including assaulting her with a shoe.
Akbar Ali was serving as vice-president of the Joynagar union BNP under Durgapur upazila.
The expulsion was announced in a press release sent to the media on Friday by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
According to the statement, Akbar Ali was accused of entering Dawkandi Government University College in Durgapur, carrying out vandalism, and engaging in inappropriate behaviour toward a teacher.
The party said he had been expelled from his primary membership as well as all organisational posts for actions that clearly violated the party’s principles, ideals, and discipline.
