Bogura: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will formally announce Bogura as the country’s 13th city cor-poration today.
The premier will unveil a plaque of the newly constituted Bogura City Corporation at the municipal building in the town at 11:30 am, Bogura district BNP General Secretary Mosharraf Hossain said.
He said the Prime Minister will also inaugurate several other programs, including the distribution of Family Card and canal excavation, and address a rally in the district.
Naogaon University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Moh Hasanat Ali said declaring Bogura as a city cor-poration was a long-standing demand of the district’s residents.
At present, Bogura Municipality is the largest municipality in the country in terms of area and popula-tion, he said, adding, therefore, it was a logical demand to declare Bogura as a city corporation.
