Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, chief patron of Amra BNP Poribar, has stood by the grieving family of three-year-old Siam, who recently died of measles in the city.
A delegation from the organisation went to the capital’s Kamrangirchar and met Siam’s father Shamim and mother Nahar on Saturday afternoon.
The team conveyed the prime minister’s message of sympathy to them. At the same time, they provided medical assistance for their other child, who is also suffering from measles.
The delegation was led by Moksedul Momin Mithun, member secretary of Amra BNP Poribar.
Moksedul Momin said a report titled “Mother traumatised by one child’s death from measles and fear for her other child” was published in various media outlets, which came to the attention of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
Subsequently, he instructed his Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman to send a delegation to meet the grieving family promptly.
Following this, the delegation met Siam’s parents.
Members of Amra BNP Poribar Masud Rana Liton, Mostakim Billah, Shakil Ahmed, former general secretary of BUET Chhatra Dal Abu Hanif, Swechchhasebak Dal leader Imtiaz Shetu, and Dhaka College Chhatra Dal leader Abdullah Al Misbah, were present, among others.
It is known that the family’s elder child, six-year-old Nehal, and younger child, Siam, were hospitalised last month after contracting measles. Siam died on the day of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr.
