5 more die of ‘measles’ cases in 24 hrs

Five more people died of suspected measles cases in last 24 hours till 8 am on Monday morning, taking the total death toll to 118, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
During this period, 1,282 suspected measles cases were reported in the country, said DGHS.
Besides, 180 patients were admitted to different hospitals. So far, a total of 5,940 suspected patients have been hospitalized.
A total of 118 suspected patients infected with measles died from March 15, 2026 till Monday (April 6).
Health and Family Welfare Minister Md Sardar Sakhawat Husain on Monday told Parliament that the recent surge in measles cases in Bangladesh stems from vaccination gaps and mismanagement by previ-ous governments, including the immediate past interim administration.
