Govt aims to conserve 3,100-megawatt power every day

The government has set a target to conserve 3,100-megawatt electricity every day through a set of austerity measures like reduced office hours and cuts in spending by government officials.

The austerity measures were announced in press briefings on Thursday and Friday, but the specific power conservation target was revealed in a press release on Friday.

The Power Division has set the conservation target and prepared a strategic plan to achieve it, the press release added.
