Staff Reporter:

Shipping, Road Transport and Bridges, and Railways Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam on Tuesday said the government has given top priority to resolving the ongoing fuel crisis and has already ensured fuel supply to public transport to facilitate safe and uninterrupted Eid travel.

“The government is working with utmost importance to normalise fuel supply in phases, with engagement of all relevant stakeholders,” he said, after laying the foundation stone of a bridge over the River Rabnabad in the Haridebpur area of Galachipa upazila in Patuakhali.

Highlighting the project’s significance, he said the bridge would fulfil a long-standing demand of local residents and reflects the government’s commitment to people-centric development. He expressed hope that construction would be completed within the stipulated timeframe. Once operational, the bridge is expected to improve regional connectivity and open new avenues for economic and social development, he added.
According to project details, the bridge will be 882.81 metres long and 10.25 metres wide, with an estimated cost of Tk164.04 crore. Construction is scheduled for completion by December 2027.

State Minister Mamunur Rashid, local MP and State Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare Nurul Haque Nur, along with local administration officials and political leaders, were also present at the event.
