Political Adviser to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and Member of Parliament from Dhaka-8 constitu-ency Mirza Abbas was taken to Singapore yesterday by an air ambulance for his better treatment.
The air ambulance carrying Mirza Abbas departed from Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 11:25 AM.
Mizanur Rahman Sohel, Personal Secretary to Mirza Abbas, confirmed this information. He said that Mirza Abbas’s wife Afroza Abbas, their eldest son Mirza Yasir Abbas and a personal physician have ac-companied him.
Earlier, at 9:10 AM, the air ambulance arrived in Dhaka to transport Mirza Abbas.
BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas fell ill and lost consciousness on Wednesday evening and was admitted to Evercare Hospital in Bashundhara that night. A medical board was formed for his treatment.
Subsequently, two surgeries were performed on his brain. A CT scan of Mirza Abbas’s brain was done yesterday and the report was good, according to BNP’s Health Affairs Secretary Rafiqul Islam.
Since then, doctors of the medical board have kept Mirza Abbas under round-the-clock close monitor-ing.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is regularly inquiring about the health condition of this senior BNP leader. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman visited Evercare Hospital last Friday afternoon to see Mirza Ab-bas.
Additionally, many national leaders, including Local Government Minister and BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Leader of the Opposition and Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rah-man, came to Evercare Hospital to inquire about Mirza Abbas’s health condition.
