Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said Bangladesh has begun a democratic journey through the recently held national election.
Tarique made the remark after attending an iftar gathering organised by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami on Saturday evening.
He arrived at the China Friendship Conference Center in the capital at around 5:30pm to join the event.
Addressing the gathering, PM Tarique said, “At this important time for the country, we have all come together. Through the election, the journey of democracy has begun.”
He further said, “The people of the country are looking at us with great expectations. Let us take an oath in the name of Allah so that in the days ahead we can work to change the fate of our people. May Allah grant us the ability to serve the people of this country.”
Leaders and activists of Jamaat, along with invited guests, were present at the iftar event.
