Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), the largest democratic political party of the country at present, leads by its chairman Tarique Rahman now the Prime Minister and leader of the Jatiya Sangsad (parliament) after a landslide victory bagging more than two-third majority seats of the parliament in the national election of Bangladesh held on February 12, 2026.
Such a victorious and historic return of BNP after many years was not just so simple and easy. There were many hurdles, plans, conspiracies and hidden events happened behind the scenes.
After the sad and historic unpleasant departure of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, who proved herself a jealous dictator and autocratic ruler, also the president of Bangladesh Awami League, facing a tremendous uprising led and planned mainly by US-Pakistan backed Jamaat-Shibir in July-August 2024.
Politics in Bangladesh, since the Independence of the country, usually and largely is dominated by the ‘big brothers’ like USA, India, China (not that desperate in politics but business) and Pakistan. In line with that account, in July-August 2024, Sheikh Hasina had to flee country facing a mass uprising against her as designed by the US-Pakisan-Jamaat caucus, where India couldn’t achieve success in foiling the plan and save its favorite Hasina government. But the Indian Modi government successful rescued Sheikh Hasina from Dhaka, Bangladesh and gave her shelter in India with due facilities and honor.
An Indian news channel recently aired a report headlined ‘The Big Story’ of secret operation of RAW inside Bangladesh said, when Jamaat Chief Dr. Shafiqur Rahman along with top policy makers visited Washington as they were called there to make a plan and deal for acquiring the state power of Bangla-desh by defeating BNP through election with the mechanism and blessing of the USA.
Availing the US-Jamaat planning, India immediately made a counter-plan at the North Block in Delhi and assigned to its strong state agencies including RAW in favor of BNP, as the party and its chairman Tarique Rahman is the most popular now in Bangladesh in absence of Awami League.
The report further said, when experienced US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T. Christensen in Dhaka held closed door meetings with top Jamaat leaders for upholding the plan, then Delhi monitored it closely and made counter-plan accordingly. It also said that America provided huge funds to Jamaat for hold-ing big political programs and political investment across the country.
India took Bangladesh issue seriously with top priority for its security reason and has chosen BNP as the better option for its own interest.
On the other hand, general supporters of Awami League felt some relief after returning of Tarique Rahman, as because, they feel, he is the chief of a pro-liberation democratic political party (BNP). With that feeling, Awami League voters in the election gave an ideological support and voted to BNP to prevent emerging of a fundamentalist, anti-liberation and fascist regime.
Mass people also put trust on BNP and Tarique Rahman’s government for the overall development of the people and country by implementing good governance all over. At the same time, he must be aware and very alert about his open and hidden enemies inside and outside and in home and abroad.
