The government has promulgated the Dhaka Central University (DCU) Ordinance, 2026, incorpo-rating seven colleges of Dhaka, for public information.
A notification in this regard was issued yesterday by the Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Di-vision of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
The matter was informed to the media yesterday by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Min-istry of Law Dr. Md. Rezaul Karim.
It stated that this ordinance has been enacted to establish the Dhaka Central University. The estab-lishment of a new university suitable for providing modern and quality higher education is deemed necessary in order to ensure quality curricula, teaching, certification and overall management of undergraduate and postgraduate education and research activities of seven college-based institu-tions in Dhaka district and metropolitan area.
These seven colleges are Dhaka College, Eden Mohila College, Government Titumir College, Gov-ernment Bangla College, Begum Badrunnesa Government Women’s College, Government Sha-heed Suhrawardy College and Kabi Nazrul Government College.
This ordinance shall be called as the Dhaka Central University Ordinance, 2026 and it shall come into effect immediately.
