Working not permitted on visitor visas: US Embassy

Staff Reporter:

The US Embassy in Dhaka has clarified that individuals staying in the United States on visitor visas are not permitted to work during their stay.

In a message issued on Saturday, the embassy said that while holders of B1/B2 visitor visas may engage in certain limited business-related activities, they are not allowed to accept employment or receive remuneration in the United States.

According to the embassy, permissible activities under a visitor visa include attending conferences and meetings, as well as negotiating contracts or business deals.

However, working for a US employer or receiving payment while in the country is strictly prohibited under such visas, the Embassy said.
