EC to hold diplomatic briefing without media presence

Staff Reporter:

The Election Commission (EC) has decided not to allow media coverage at its upcoming briefing for foreign diplomats, organised ahead of the referendum and the parliamentary election.

The briefing will be held on Sunday (25 Jan) at the Westin Hotel in Gulshan, where the EC will brief diplomats from all foreign missions stationed in Bangladesh.

The decision was confirmed on Saturday by EC Public Relations Director Ruhul Amin Mallik, who said the briefing at the Westin Hotel would not be open to the media.

However, he added that following the event, the EC secretary will brief journalists at the Election Commission Secretariat.
